Ekkeroy

Next stop today is the tiny hamlet of Ekkeroy which is famous for the cliffs which are the nesting site of 20,000 Kittiwake's.

At first we thought they were seagulls but a pair of binoculars and the trusty "British Birds" iPhone app soon put us right.

More German WWII bunkers. Apparently they sited a rather large gun here on the peat bogs only to find that the ground was unsuitable for the weight - surprise, surprise! - so they moved it elsewhere.

Fish drying racks on the shoreline - the emptiness of this place has a strange beauty.

Ammunition stores dug into the rockface.
