Bergen

After settling Kiki into the campsite for a few days we had lunch then took the bus and tram into Bergen.

Bryggen, the old timber warehouses alongside the harbour are a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Many fires have ravaged these buildings throughout the years. The latest in 1955 left only 10 gables standing! There is an extensive sprinkler network to help prevent further fires.

The narrow alleys between the wonky buildings have wood planks laid along them to make it easier for carts to be pushed along.

An open sided corridor upstairs - you can see the fire alarm and sprinkler pipes.

Hello Emma!

Parts of these buildings date from 1460.
