Middelburg

This morning Kiki entered the Netherlands, sadly there was no welcome sign on the minor road we were using. We headed to Middelburg, the capital of Zeeland. This involved a 6km drive through a toll-tunnel which avoided a long diversion to the east.

Kiki's now parked in one of the dedicated motorhome spaces of the Park & Ride (ride bicycle that is - we're now in NL you know). We're hooked up and have put €1 in the electricity meter so hopefully we'll be able to watch a film tonight!

It's pouring with rain but with full wet-weather gear on we decided to explore the city

The ornate town hall.

We spent our last Euro's on drinks - Emma had an awesome hot chocolate made with chocolate buttons dissolved in hot milk - so needed some more cash. They had provided rather a nice step at the ATM.

The city had originally been fortified and was built in on a circular plan with a moat running round the outside. We walked all of the way around the outside spotting this windmill en-route.

The middle of Middelburg

If it hadn't been raining it would've been funny to sit in the empty deckchair....
