Today we decided to head inland on our scooter to visit Cabanes which is supposed to have some interesting Roman remains. Unfortunately when we got there we discovered a one-horse town and even the horse had left. We rode around following the signs to Arc Roma but ended up going round in circles and riding along a road that was closed for roadworks! Needless to say we never found the Roman stuff....
En-route to Cabanes we took a diversion into Parc Natural del desert de les Palmes. This is a nature reserve and we discovered several marked walking routes although it wasn't clear which one was the circular route shown on the map by the carpark. Undeterred we set off and managed to find (after one false trail) our way round the 3.5km path.
Don't forget to drop the breadcrumbs so we can find our way back!
