Sunset over Zugsee

This is the stunning view we had from our Motorhome as the sun set over Zugsee.

Luzerne

Today, after our arduous day yesterday, we're having a quiet day exploring Luzerne. The picture is of the famous covered bridge which is the oldest wooden bridge on Europe.

Our 6000ft descent of Pilatus

The first picture shows the start of the walk - winding down a scree slope from the hotel at the summit - I'm smiling here.

The second picture is taken several hours later and still only 2/3 of the way down - the legs are starting to hurt now.

We were passed by a herd of cows being moved to lower pastures - some had the most enormous bells round their necks - what a racket!! It sounded like a steel band was coming down the mountain.....

The top of Pilatus

Em at the top of Pilatus with the Alps in the background

We took the cog railway to the top of Pilatus (7000ft) and then walked back down to the car park where we had left Kiki. The 6000ft descent was fabulous passing through beautiful Alpine scenery it was however long and arduous taking us over 5hrs! On reaching the bottom we were both shattered and despite being parked between a motorway and a railway we decided to stay the night where we were!

Lake Luzerne

Our Lunch Stop

We drove up a winding mountain road and came across this waterfall

I have a rest from driving whilst Em cooks (well re-heats actually) fresh bread for lunch!!

I couldn't resist climbing the waterfall - Em's just realised where I am - she's not very impressed :-(

Art in Frieberg, Germany

Spotted this random piece of artwork today in the park close to the place we stayed the night. It reminded us of the large bike that we saw half buried in a Paris park.

Waterloo

Em (sporting a very fetching pair of sunnies) with the Butte du Lion (the statue commemorating the Battle of Waterloo) in the background.

We stayed overnight in the car park and were there before the Germans and a bussload of Japanese tourists.

Atomium Brussels

We reached Brussels yesterday and visited the Atomium and Mini Europe - both were good apart from excessive amounts of pro EU propaganda.

We're in central Brussels today - going to see Wee Boy and some big expensive buildings......

Modern Art in Ghent

The Museum of Modern Art in Ghent - Lots of wacky exhibits. I nearly lost Em in this room :-)
